I recently assembled my third AR-47 (7.62x39) with a Faxon gunner 10.5” barrel. I have been shooting PPU19 Brass cased boxer primed 123FMJ ammo with the intent to reload with cast bullets.
Upon checking the shoulder length to the head of fired cases from the Faxon barrel I noticed the shoulders had been pushed forward .01”.
undired PPU round ShL= 1.215” ( hornady comparator). As fired case ShL=1.225”. Does .01” seem like excessive shoulder movement (excessive headspace) or is it still good?
Comparatively, my other two barrels have to following shoulder movements with same ammo.
KAK 18” ShL = 1.220”
BCA 16” ShL= 1.219”

thanks for any help.

If fired brass from the Faxon fits in the other two barrels, I wouldn't worry about it.
I haven't ran into a headspace problem on any of my past builds- but I've only built one 7.62x39 AR- and it was problem free.

Thanks. I’ll test that out.
