Hunting. A miss is a forever memory of the deer you saw. You’ll remember for next time. I find myself refocusing on sight picture, breathing, POI, and trigger squeeze. Glad you had such a good season seeing deer and having an opportunity.

Next year will be here sooner than you think.

It's the hunt that matters, not whether you bag an animal or not. At least that's what I tell myself...

A clean miss is better than a wounding shot.

Knowing why you missed will be educational for you....and maybe others?

Any body who has hunted for a length of time has missed. That memory will increase the odds of it never happening again.

Hey at least you got to see one! I saw no horns during muzzleloader season this year. My nice neighbor that I’ve had so many issues with drove out and spooked six doe to me. I didn’t realize he was the reason they showed. The tractor showed up 10 minutes later after they left. I got greedy and figured they all came running in because the doe and fawn were getting chased by horns. Nope just tractor horns apparently. I’ll try and get out today or tomorrow and see if I can see one of them for antlerless hunting and get rid of some of my Cast Boolits in the process.

The first deer I ever shot at, I missed three shots as she stood there at about a hundred yards. I have not missed one since.

I think, now this is speculation, that I wasn't committed to the shot
I do not remember the the sight being on the target when I fired
a non comital shot or warning shot as it were :bigsmyl2:

I thought that was why it is called "still hunting"

The one I missed this year 1st shot & got the second shot, was pure Buck Fever! I have to tell myself, "It's Only A Deer" If I loose that excitement it's probably all over.
