Today I stumbled on two lead pipe elbows probably 7-10 pounds each and a pan that lined the bottom of a shower stall, also lead and maybe 50 lbs. Now, besides casting straight lead boolits what can I do with it?? What about cleanup? Should I just melt it down, clean off the crud and pour ingots? Will it perform in centerfire cartridge rifles?

Best to mix 50-50 with LEAD-WW for rifle HUNTING boolits. For target boolits having more speed capability, go with water dropped WW. Using 1400-1600 speed boolits, about any alloy should work OK. In other words, don't waste the pure lead. ... felix

I have Lyman great plains rifle, 54 cal, patched round ball shooting, VERY ADDICTIVE !...I had no clue how acurate black powder and ball was, till I started experimenting with mine, 100 yard shots group size of your fist..I still am amazed every time I shoot it.

My best group with the Lyman was 4 shots into 2" at 100 yards fired offhand while testing rifles. I have a group fired from a bench rest that is 3 shots in 1 1/2" from a Lyman 54 I tuned and lapped for a friend. The Lyman's will shoot!

So chromecrow, did you cast any bullets from the lead you came on or buy any of the rifles you were wishing for? It's been 4 years with no update from you!:kidding:
