Took this guy this morning. Not a big rack, but I am happy for the meat! This was taken with cast. Gun was a 358 winchester, Lee 35-200 with a 3-3-94 alloy and powder coated. MV was 1920. This is a confidence builder since the only other cast I have used has been from a 45-70 with a big meplat. This buck was shot at 50 yards or so, and he ran maybe 30-40 yards before toppling over. Pretty happy with the results!

That’s awesome. I’m in my second season of using cast in my 30-30 and 308 Winchester and I to have had a good year building conference in cast

Great!

Hey, I would have taken that deer too!

(Trophy hunters don't eat very good,..... they just make excuses because they didn't get a buck!..):not listening:

Thanks for the kind words folks! Went out this morning and filled a doe tag with the same load. Confidence builder x2!

Good Show!! Do we see Magnum Confidence on the horizon? Be careful the deer can smell it. Big Congrats coming at ya!

Not much worse than to not have confidence in the load you are hunting with, or using for protection.

What was the angle/penetration you got, looks like a pretty steep angle on that shot. Tell us about it.

I hit back farther than I intended. Was waiting for her to clear the tree she was behind. The shot caught mostly liver, fortunately no gut. I was 20 feet in a tree, and she was 50 yards away, so a but of an angle. Broke a rib on the exit side, looked like it got expansion. Fortunately she didn't run at the shot, humped up and soon went down.

You are also seeing the exit side, she was quartering towards me.

Excellent! I remember when I took my first deer with my Henry lever in .45 colt with a cast boolit. It's an awesome feeling when you do it with ammo that you made yourself.

Cut them up a week ago and ground them into burger. 58lbs meat off the buck, 50 off the doe. We add about 20-30% pork to the deer, ended up with 132 lbs good burger. I am blessed!
