Going to load up some 35 remington for my newly acquired rifle. I have a good amount of the lee 358 158 rnfp cast up that I like to shoot in my revolvers. They are sized .358 and powder coated, no gas check. Just looking for a light to moderate plinking round. I'm thinking something more along the lines of a pistol powder? I have unique, w231, and a ton of 700x. Also have various rifle powders. Let me know what you guys think I'm open to ideas. Where do you go for seating depth just the crimp groove?

I have been using 6 grains of Unique in my .357 Maximum, very close to same 'poi' as my 180 grain hunting loads. hc18flyer

I use the crimp groove in my 350 Rem Mags. Red Dot or E3 for powder. I need to look for exact charge but they are 1,350 ft/s ish. I shoot these lubed with LARS BAC or Carnauba Red. I would use 700X. I will look when I get home and post charge wt.

8.5 gr E3

In my 35 Remington(s), 158 swc PB, 8.0 gr of Unique. My notes say it was mild, and accurate, But I can't find the Chrono results just now!!!

Edit; digging for chrono results I did Find...5.0 gr RedDot, gave 1000fps with the same PB158swc.. this from my M98 Mauser in 35Rem.
Edited to add a Zero!!!!

You may need a fatter bullet, .359, .360 if your rifle is a Microgroove Marlin 336.

I like to keep my pistol bullet 35 Rem loads just sub-sonic (1000 - 1100 fps) for nice plinking/small game loads which are accurate and relatively quiet. I mostly use Bullseye powder but have used 700X for excellent results. Suggest you try 4.5 gr of your 700X under your Lee cast bullets.

Unique works fine....1 1/2" groups at 50 yd. 7.5 gr/140 HC .358 dia, LP primer. Neck sized, roll crimp (xp100)
Titegroup.... smaller groups / single diget SD. Try the faster powders as well(231,700x), they may suprise you

Recently tried some speer 148 HBWC..... :holysheep
