View Full Version : Thanksgiving tradition; the WKRP Turkey drop.

I've noticed that every year for the past ten years or so, around Thanksgiving, I go on YouTube and look up the 3-minute video of the turkey drop scene on the show WKRP in Cincinnati.

And I laugh out loud every year...

I mentioned it to my coworkers and they had never seen it, or even heard of the show. Not surprising since none of them were born when the show was on the air.

But, it was a fairly "progressive" show for it's time, so curious as to how many here have seen it.

I recall watching that show back in the year ???? Don't recall that particular episode, but that show was always good for a laugh.

I remember watching that. One of the funniest scenes i saw on tv. Wife just showed it to me
"Oh my God"

Yep.
But I ask.. How many today will take a minute to say with sincere heart, "Thank you God, my Creature, for permitting me to be born in a land where I will not yet be encarcelated for saying "Thank you God" on the Day of Thanksgiving.

I'll bet spell check inserted "Creature" where you intended Creator. If so, count me in.

WKRP in Cincinnati was my favorite when it was on. Years later, another show similar to it was also very funny. It was called News Radio, and it had the same quirky humor as the original. If you have an opportunity to watch it, I highly recommend it.

"my god there hitting the ground like bags of wet cement" Its right up there with Ralphie being told "you'll shoot your eye out kid".

Perhaps the funniest Thanksgiving themed show ever filmed ...
When I first saw it on TV ... I laughed until my ribs hurt ...
Thanks for posting ... it's still funny !

Just watched it again. It might be the only funny thing to happen in Cincinnati.
The only thing I can remember that rivaled it was Carol Burnett "went with the wind" staircase scene and some episodes of married with children

I hear ya'. I was the 'old one' at my shop until retirement a few years ago. You do not want to reference the 'Group W' bench either.

On “Our American Stories” a night or two ago this episode of WKRP was featured. Turns out that it was based on a real radio station promotion.

Heard it played on the radio several times yesterday. It is as much a seasonal tradition at Thanksgiving as "A Christmas Story" is at Christmas.

That was the show about the receptionist as I recall from my youth.

The show wasn’t even remotely about the receptionist. You only remember her because you were young and Loni Anderson displayed ENORMOUS attractions to young men.
