need a medium 475 load

Got the 475 Keith group buy and need a load using 2400 or H110 to get them to 1000 fps - 1100fps. They dropped at 385 gr. All of my searching turned up loads at 1250 fps or more. A load using Universal would be even better. I noticed Titegroup and 231 are common loads but don't have those on hand.

380 gr. cast, 5.5" bbl, 23 grs. of 2400, = 1,191 fps. 400 gr. J-word, 21 grs. of 2400, = 1,130 fps.

This should get you started. I'd skip the H-110 for anything other than full throttle loads.

Thanks dubber. Today we shot factory Hornady 400 gr jhp at 1300 fps and it's not much fun right out of the gate. Tonight I found some threads mentioning 9-10gr Unique or Universal which I'll try too.

I shoot 11 grains of Unique with the RCBS 400 grain sized .476 from a BFR with a 7.5" barrel, very accurate and chrono's at 1040 in my gun, oh even though it's a "light load" it kills whitetail just fine. I've got some data with other powders at home, I'm out of town until the 8th, but I'll see what I can dig up, pretty sure there is a Universal load in there too.

Heavy, I hear ya. In one of the threads I found tonight someone said a boolit that size at 950 fps would go lengthwise through an elk, so...

9- 10 of Unique works great. You MAY get 1,000 fps. I shot alot with that charge, and they make great loads that don't beat you up. I shoot 10 grs, of Power Pistol for practice.

My full power load is a 440 gr. WFN at 1,325 fps out of the 4-3/4" non ported barrel, so I know what you mean by "not fun"

I have some Power Pistol I may try but when I used it in 44s and 45s it made so much blue smoke it looked like I was shooting black powder.
