I am looking for opinions on a good slug for 350 legend for hogs. Need something that will feed in an AR platform. Will be supressed so they will be powdercoated.
Will have Accurate cut the mold
Thanks,

NOE has what you want. These boolits run perfectly in a couple AR rifles I’ve tried. I size to .358 and load over Alliant 300-MP

Here's two that I have book marked for future consideration in my 350 AR;

I have 2 of the MP 35-200 RCBS clones. One is 8 cavity solid the other is 4 cavity hollowpoint. Both feed well and are accurate. I'm running them about 2033 fps, 16" barrel.

Paso shows ya my favorite bullet!!

But I also have a NOE 180 I cast WW with a cup point and seat on top of 12g Blue Dot for about 1400 fps. Its a one hole shooter in my Bolt gun @ 50 yards.

Here’s another I run in 350L; LBT 358-185-SP. The top lube groove is above the case neck but it runs super slick in my AR’s, also pushed by Alliant 300-MP.

I was not able to get mine to cycle with 247 & 273 cast bullets and still be sub-sonic. I only tried a few powder combinations since I was more curious than anything and did not need sub-sonic rounds as I do not own a suppressor. I had Tom @ Accurate cut to my drawing, same profile for both wts. just a longer bearing surface on the 273 gr. 36-250B & 36-270G in his catalog. These shoot very well out of 1:16'' BBLS. 350 Rem Mags and 350 Legend Bolt action, have not shot too many in my AR rifle or 10" AR pistol but faster rounds that did cycle feed with not issues. Note they were about 0.03 to 0.040" over SAAMI max COL.

I just drew up a couple designs that I want to use in the 350 Ledgend and 357 maximum. I have them on order and can't wait to get them. 307067

I like the looks of that bullet. Have No experience vasting HP slugs or using a brass mould. Any caveats?
Load development. I am seeing nothing. Where do I start?

Hodgdon has load data online. 350L has been around a couple years printed data takes time.

MP Hollowpoint molds are Fun!

They look great. How accurate are they at that velocity?

Not great, 10 shots under 4" at 50 yards, I had 3/4" back about 1900 fps. Bullet stability should be good at 2033. Still trying different powders but 1900 may be it.

Well, a year later....I ordered a 2 banger mold.
Life got in the way.

I guess I am a hard headed cuss. I resisted Aluminum Molds forever. After I had Tom at accurate molds cut one, I swore off all others. Took me a year to decide to try the brass.
MP has the FASTEST shipping on the planet. I ordered the mold early Friday morning before going on a Duck hunt. Like 3 a.m. I somehow have it in hand today. I am amazed

I cant decide what I am more impressed with. The speed of shipping or the artwork of a mold. Got it washed up and heat cycling in the oven now.
I have sworn of companies such as Midway over their shipping.

I ordered a new set of handles on the same day from a company here in the states........ain't seen em.

CWWell work is exceptionally slow today. I work in industrial automation and draw a salary whether I am fixing something or sitting on my behind.
Duck season is closed for the split ( week break for the birds) in my part of Texas right now.

I couldnt stand it. Fired up the pot and hot plate. Got everything up to temp and about 45 minutes worth of throws before the phone rang. Damn it....off to work.

This particular mold throws slugs as fast and easy as anyone could want. Im not one that tries to turn out 10,000,000 an hour.

Makes a darn nice looking slug. When I assembled it pin in the cavity closest to me, I noticed it sticks a wee bit when moving the plug in and out. The hotter the mold got, the more she wanted to stick. MP sent a pile of the pins. I will take it apart and play with it this evening.

I am casting with range scrap as I hardly use hard lead anymore since I started powdercoating.

If these slugs shoot half as good as they look, I'd imagine they will ruin a feral hogs day.

Random cooled one I picked out. I am sure there are many culls. I am a bit picky, as my handguns are my deer rifles. The wife and Grandson will test these out in short order.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20231128/ada646b01633f8fc08eacf8ab27917b4.jpg

Is .358 common?

Is .358 common?I believe that all the big manufacturers are cutting the bores to .355. I know slugs from factory ammo are definitely sized to .355.

Winchester supposedly did this to be able to produce slugs on the same line as they do the 9mm without having to stop and reset tooling. Claimed they could make the ammo much cheaper.

Confusion comes as any other 35 caliber rifles are sized to .357/.358.....as well as the magnum handguns. Everyone felt that they should have made the bore size match those other guns. More commonality for the handloader. There are lots of specialty cut AR barrels out there that are the larger of the two as folks were wildcatting with the bigger slugs before the .355 Legend came along.

Winchester also gave it a goofy size spec of something like .357-.003.

As a cast shooter, I dont think it makes a hill of beans. I just sized them to .356 as I know what my bores are.

These are just 50 to 75ish yard guns for feral hog duty at my house.

Thats exactly how I justified the 9x45 for my uses.

Does anyone have the nose length of that pretty 35-200?
How much do they weigh with the penta point?

I can measure and get back to you. The powder coated and checked slug weighs 202.5 to 203 gr.

Thats out of relatively soft range scrap.
