View Full Version : Lee 379-250 mold
Question for those that may have this mold. What are the as cast diameter of bullets you cast with this mold? I need to cast bullets that will size to .381 for my Marlin 1893 38-55. Is that possible with this mold?

I purchased this mold for my 375 Marlin as it has a bore in the 379-380 range. I just looked for some unsized bullets, and couldn't find any, but I think they dropped out of the mold in the 382-383 range. I'll fire up the pot in the next couple days and cast some unless someone else has some they can measure.

I have two copies of the mold, both single cavity. One throws .379, the other .380 in wheelweight alloy. I need .382 and can get that out of them by beagling the mold with aluminum tape in the vertical alignment grooves.

My new 2 cavity version throws them at .383".

Using pure ww, my two cavity version drops at.384/5 and 255 grs. Exactly how they drop seems to depend on how I hold my mouth.:):) I ordered a lighter boolet (235 Gr.) and .379 LEE sizer from Ranch Dog.
