Ive been casting many years but just catching up on some of the new stuff like powdercoating, Lee APP sizing, preheating moulds.

Anyhow, dollar general is clearancing their hotplates. I picked one up at local store for $6.
Its 1000w.

Thanks for the post. Do not need a hotplate as I have a couple; but I did not realize Dollar General even had a Web site with products to buy.

It looks like it is 100 watts not 1000 watts and has a bunch of bad reviews.

It did smoke for about 10 seconds on initial heat up. Guess I got lucky.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20221026/31430c1690e5a6f738b81b46bf1edb11.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20221026/167f6c696db0abb0c28d340007a629c3.jpg

The second throw from the aluminum blocks made good slugs. Admittedly, it took 3 from the iron mold. Only problem I am having is keepung lead melted in my 20lb pothttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20221026/8df354012bfdaf076739947a4af030a6.jpg

That's a cute little hotplate, looks like all three stores near me have them in stock as well.

I like the Saw Blade atop the Heat Elements. Might give that a try next time on my existing hot plates - should give a nice flat top.

The bad reviews are kind of funny...and indicate that it may have an automatic off timer or automatic off for over heat function?

AND...weird, the website says 100W, but we all know 100W element ain't gonna even keep food items warm, let alone cook them.
