So for sale are the following Hoch Moulds. The seller can't post pictures so I am hoping that someone knows a little about the Nose / groove design.

Hoch C6046, 322 200

Hoch C5873, 322 200

Hoch C 5117, 376 320

Hoch C 5348, 376 310

Hoch C 5514, 376 260

Obviously the first 2 are .322 X 200 grains. I'm told they are 6 groove but have no idea of the nose design
From what I have read I believe they might be nose pour.

The next 3 are .376 X XYZ weight

Any info would be helpful

BTW it appears from the date stamps that the moulds were made 2004-2006

The seller is asking $175.00 each. (ouch)

The original Hoch moulds haven’t been sold for at least a couple of decades. The numbers and sizes you mention look like 32-40 and 38-55 moulds suitable for Schuetzen. They were popular for ASSRA competition, so I would go over to the ASSRA.com and ask your question again there and I’d bet somebody there will be able to help you out.

Original Hoch moulds were lathe-bored to the customer’s design. Beside the serial number, all Hoch ever put on them was a composite of the diameter in thousandths and the weight in grains. There was never a designation for design differences that I remember seeing.

The guy who picked the business up from Hoch might have standardized some designs, but AFAIK he kept the numbering conventions, just replacing “R HOCH” with “HOCH MOLDS”. He used to job some moulds through Midway, which might have been the standardized designs; if you have an old catalog, you might see them in there.

Anybody who wants 175 scoots from me for a mould had best learn to post pictures.:roll:

The subject "For sale" moulds are listed on ASSRA.
No one there who might know has either seen or replied to the inquiry.

Someone" Said Dave Farmer took up the biz and moved to New Mexico but a search was a dead end.
others said Colorado Shooting supply carried some Hoch moulds, again, no joy.
I'll try Midway.

I don't know what Steve Brooks is charging these days but it can't be much more than the $175.00.
That being the case I can design or find a existing design that works for others and have Steve or Accurate make one.

Truth be told my collecting is getting in the way of actually shooting.
I should just shoot what I have and not chase some elusive brass ring..

My understanding, molds with the "C" were made in Colorado, where those without the "C" were made by Hoch.

I don't have an original but do have a couple made by Dave Farmer, both are well made producing fine bullets in 38-55 and 40-65. Both drop standard bullets for lever rifles.

I have an original, and a "C" model. There are some minor differences, but quality nonetheless.

I sure wish someone would make nose pour molds. It only makes sense.

I have two, a 4 cav. 210 gr .310 and a single cav. 750 (IIRC) .510" mould, both made by Richard. If you can get a copy of Black Powder news, there might be an ad in there about whoever might be making the moulds now. Good moulds, but heavy.
