With that arrow in the bullseye logo I'm thinking a Chinese copy of a early CZ because Iv'e seen that logo on chinese air rifles.

the first thought was bruno model 2 then norinco... the safety position is the only real difference quickly visible between them, the bolt is oh so close to interchangable.... my guess is its a norinco..but its a good one as early model..they shoot very very well when you match them with ammunition they like, any issues feeding ammunition get a plastic CZ magazine and they feed perfectly.really interesting the rear open sight appears to be mounted on the scope dovetail...VERY unusual set up and quite possibly worth money all on its own..definately gives a much longer/better sight radius . its a keeper for sure.
try it with winchester superspeed if you can still find any...also try the 40 grn ho subsonic winchester and the 42grn versions.sorry to say it but the stuff we getting now, made in USA is not a patch on the stuff that was coming out of Australia up until recent times.

Looks like a Chinese JW-8 military trainer. Back in the late 80s they were selling for for about $80 at gun shows. I bought one and still have it.

If you click on photo # 4 you can clearly see the rear sight is in it's own dovetail in the knox form. Very interesting arrangement! Something I have wanted to do for a while now. Not only is the sight radius increased but one can see the front sight and target better. For my eyes anyway.

I remember shooting one of them back in the early 80's. It shot right with an original BRNO. Made the BRNO owner a little cross as I remember.

It is a chinese copy variation of the BRNO. Uses the same magazines. I have the military "Mauser" configured model. It's a very good shooter.

Thanks for all the assistance. I have narrowed it down to a Norinco JW-8.

New question....scope mount ideas?????

The receiver ring and the (rear) bridge appears to have built-in scope mount grooves, I would suggest measuring the width between the sides/grooves to determine what rings will clip into them.

Clip-on rings for 1" tubed scopes are available from the likes of Burris (et al) - but you'll most likely need to remove the rear sight to clear the receiver ring for the scope rings.

My CZ has 11mm width grooves, and the appropriate rings mounted in a New York Minute.

NORINCO Training rifle from China. They are a very good shooter but don't ever lose a magazine.
