I bought a couple Lee molds from Midway last week and so far I've only used the 200g RN .309" mold. So far I'm pleased with it. Many of my Lee molds throw undersized boolits but I'm getting nice looking 173g .3015" boolits from this one with the alloy I'm using. I'm not yet set up to powder coat so I'll probably tumble lube this fist batch in Alox.

Anybody have a good subsonic load for a cast boolit in this weight range for the .300 Blackout? I have a pretty good selection of powders. To name a few 700x, Red Dot, Unique, 2400 and 4227. I have others too but I think those are my best options...

.3015” ain’t gonna work.

That was a late night typo. They measure .3095. I need to stop posting in the wee hours of the morning... I have older Lyman and RCBS cast bullet manuals but neither of them have loads for the Blackout.

Been running a .30 caliber 185 gr cast bullet in a necked down .357 case at subsonic speeds for some time. Early loads were in the 4-4.5 gr range with 700x and Red Dot. Velocity was in the 1,000 FPS range, accuracy was inconsistent. Sometimes stellar, other times not. Had no good experience with 4227 or 2400. Blue Dot and 4198 rock! BD load is 5.2 gr, velocity 950 FPS. Have shot 5 shot one hole groups with BD at 50 yds. Have also whacked a couple hogs with that load.

Do you use gas checks with this load? My boolits have the band for them but if they don't need them, I wasn't planning on using them.

Have 2 different styles of bullets, only one is designed for a GC....and I don't use them.

I have a buddy that hangs on the 24 HR Campfire that shoots 200 gr subs with the .300 BO. It shoots very well, but I don't know his loads. If you want to contact him his member name is Muffin. OR, you can peruse the Single Shot forum and see some of it.

TECHNOJOCK, I'm betting that shooting gascheck-capable projectiles without gas checks may reduce your accuracy a bit. If your groups expand from 1" to 2" at 100 yards, I guess little harm is done, but for some shooters, enlarged (though still small enough) groups are "a major thing".
I'd be VERY happy to be wrong about this, and SINCERELY hope that I will be. Every time I try to do something like shooting a GC bullet w/o gas checks, however, I get something I don't like. USUALLY, it's much larger groups.

This is what I have experienced. GC bullets without the GC are a bit less accurate. How much worse? Depends on the bullet, alloy, velocity and range. I keep using GC's at sub velocities because I like them to be more accurate. My groups go from 1 1/2" to 2 1/2-3" without the GC.

Just try them both ways and see what works for you.

PS my .308Win likes blue dot for these loads as well.

You will likely experience some issues trying to send a bullet of that size subsonic. That is, if you're shooting a gas gun. The reason most listed sub loads are 220-230. The extra weight helps build back pressure to run the action. I have been able to do it in my 10.5", but accuracy wasn't great. The Lee 230 gr is decent is about all I shoot in my .300 BLK.

The .300 Blackout I have is a H&R Handirifle. While I know it's capable of taking game at 100 yards, I consider 50 yards a long shot for this gun. I have a good selection of more powerful .30 caliber rifles I could use if I needed something with more range. I suppose I should have opened with that. My original purpose for this mold was for 7.5mm loads for my K31 but after casting some up, I started thinking .300 Blackout...
