I noticed on the Lyman website in the parts section that the stock for a percussion .50 and .54 are the same partnumber and that all of the barrels are 15/16 across the flats.
I have a .54 cal. and am wondering if I can order a .50 barrel and have basically 2 in 1.
Has anyone tried this or know if it would work?
I would need to order sights too of course.
Thanks,
Don

Yeah, Should work like a charm. I have done this and with one stock I have a .50, .54 and a GM .58 bbl. Even some bbls from other makers will fit. However be careful as some have a different fit at the ramshorn or nipple fitting over the lock plate. Call the .58 "No Track" as when she goes off on meat you don't have to track, you'll see it go down. That 315 mini in front of 110 gr. Elephant FF is great, of course with open sights all the shots have been inside 85 yds. 10 ga.

Not many responses to this post but just in case anyone is wondering, I got my .50 barrel today and it came complete with sights. Snapped right in to my Lyman stock.

Any of the 15/16ths Thompson Center drop-in replacement barrels from Green Mountain should also fit the Lyamn Deerstalker or Lyman Trade Gun.
