Anybody have a load they really like? Bonus points for clean burning, but that's not really important.

10.0 grains of HS-6 for about 950 fps.

"Skeeter's Load", from the late Skeeter Skelton--7.5 grains of Unique. Runs about 900 FPS from my 624 x 6.5", an all-day load for sure.

Ditto on above + the 429421 cast soft, lubed with Javelina over 5 gr Bullseye duplicated factory WW .44 Special loads at 750 fps out of a 4" S&W M29 or Colt Anaconda. quite accurate and very, very pleasant to shoot.

I like 13.2 grains of 2400 over a non-magnum primer. The recoil seems just a bit less sharp than Skeeter's Load, seems like more of a push and less of a slap (if that makes any sense).

7gr of Universal burns cleanly.

I have fired thousands of rounds with the 7.5 grains of Unique with great satisfaction. For the last couple of years I have replaced that load with 8.0grains of PB. It is the cleanest burning powder that I have tried and measures like a dream. Hope this helps. Neil

7g W231 under that boolit in a magnum case, WLP to touch it off. 900 fps give or take and accurate.

15 grains of 2400 gives me roughly 1050 fps from a 6 inch 29.

8 grains of herco

What he said. Although in working up the load, I found 8.2 grs. to be the ticket. (And in the Magnum case, 9.0 grs. I've found that .44 spl rounds, all else being equal, aren't as accurate in a Magnum chambered gun as a full length Magnum round. ) Herco cleanliness is on the so-so side, tho. But as far as I'm concerned, cleanliness takes a back seat to accuracy.

I always used 7.5gr of WW231 with that boolit, in mag cases. Shot tens of thousands of those.

I've used 12.0 grains of Blue Dot under the 429421 Hollow point with great accuracy.

975 fps in my 4" Model 24-3.
