Has anybody modified the Lee 230 boattail to non-boattail. If so, how much did it weigh and how did it shoot in what twist barrel?

You can achieve a "Flat Base" on the TL309-230-5R by seating a 30 cal gas check on it. Use a push through Sizer die (such as a Lee .309 sizer die pr Lyman/RCBS push through .309/.310 die)). Either lube with Tumble Lube, your lube of choice, or Powder Coat. I would put the Gas Check on After Powder Coating if that's the way one decides to go. In this manner; one does not have to modify the Mold.

I did not have very good results in my 1 in 12 twist Remington .308 Heavy Barrel (Varmint). Two test groups had 2 of 10 Rounds go wide - one at 11.2 MOA and another at 14.5 MOA, with a smaller 8 rounds that was still fairly wide for each group.

A 1 in 10 Twist rate might give better performance.

Thanks Mustang,
I was thinking of more bearing surface in the mod. to increase stability. I have 1 in 10 308 and plan on getting a 300 BO for this boolit going sub.
