I want to load some pb pistol boolets to match the poi of my 180 grain cast hunting loads? I am loading for my Henry single shot, rechambered for .357 Max. Today I plan to load some 6 and 6.5 grain Unique loads to try. I have several powders on hand to use, including Power Pistol and CFE Pistol. Looking for some ideas?
Thanks in advance for your replies, Tom

I'm not certain that plinker loads and hunting loads with the same impact point are going to work out very well with physics.

What Ben is saying !
Math and Physic's usually throws a monkey wrench in my plans for different loads all with the same aiming point and impact point !

But hey ! ... Give It A Shot :drinks:

You might be able to get the same point of impact at fairly close ranges with a
heavier boolit going slow so it would drop faster than your hunting load.

Other wise, I'd practice with one, then make whatever sight corrections, and finish up with the hunting load.

I was hoping for a similar poi at 50 yards. I well may have to prove you right. Oh well, give me an excure to shoot. hc18flyer

The ideal laws of physics tell us that mass does not affect the path of a projectile - kinda like a feather dropping at the same rate as stone in a vacuum. What are the physics you are dealing with? Does your hunting bullet have a poor BC? Can you find a bullet with an excellent BC that will have a higher POI?

You may be able to find a load that hits close to the same point of aim at 50 yards. But it would only be similar at a specific range.

At close ranges I would expect your goal is achievable. Exactly what will get you there is hard to tell since guns like different things and don't respond the same way to powder/boolit combinations. I would try simply matching velocities with a lighter boolit and see where that gets you.

Try a heavier bullet for close to point of impact. Recoil will let the bullet rise with the barrel before it exits. The Ly 358627 purring along with 12-14 gr 2400 impacts near a max load of a 180 @ 25 yards with my 10" bbl contender.
