Hey gang. I have an opportunity to buy a really nice TC Hawken .50 caliber percussion for $220.00. I don't need it for hunting but it sure is a good looking gun. Appears to have all original finish with a good bore, no signs of Pyrodex induced cancer. Should I jump on it? Is this priced below market value? I know sidelocks used to be a dime a dozen even for TC's, but they seem to be appreciating these days. Are these guns known to have any problems?

If it was me, my wallet would be a couple C-notes lighter...

You can't buy much for $220.00 these days, just saying.

Called the shop back to say I would take it and they said it just walked out the door. Second place is the first loser I guess!![smilie=b:

I would have jumped on that deal.
Those are the rifles that I look for and buy bunches of.

That’s a good price.
I’ve seen a couple selling for $100 more.
It’s only worth what someone is willing to pay.

$220 was a steal if it is in even half-decent condition.

The very late production models have a counterbored muzzle that T/C called the QLA. They are almost universally bored off-center, and most people cut the barrels back to get rid of the feature.

Not tryin to make you feel worse...,I bought one in 50 cal with a good bore 20 yrs ago that had the best wood on it that I've ever seen on a commercial muzzle loader from my LGS. I paid 225$ then. Last year I got a GM dropin RB BBL in 54 cal and as soon as I recover from back surgery, I'm gonna hunt with it. So, yeah that was a good price. If you see another, and it looks in good shape, and you still "need" one at that price ....JUMP
