Customer wanted a barrel long enough to thread for a can on his 9mm S&W shield.

On S&W website they show a Performance Center Shield Plus pistol with a longer appearing barrel/slide- but I couldn't find barrel length in the specs.
Good luck in your search.

That should work. All it needs are the threads......

Buy one. There are a bunch out there already threaded....

The M&P full size and Compact pistols use a different barrel than the M&P Shield. Therein lies the rub. I only see threaded barrels for the full size M&P online.
If the Performance Center barrel is available, it will still need threading on the muzzle end.
I hope this helps.

I talked the customer into going with 9/16-28 threads to give a little more wall thickness. With the 9MM bore there is not a lot of wall thickness for 1/2-28. The weight of a can on the end could distort the barrel or even break it off. Barrel diameter is 9/16" so the barrel was butted up to the inside of the can. Also has a thread protector for when the can is not on it.

I passed on a 350L barrel for the same reason, 1/2-28 doesn't leave much steel over a .355" groove.

Colt uses 1/2x36 on the AR 9mm.

What barrel did you end up using?

Machined a new one from a Douglas blank. Some of the cuts are a little fun to make but not as hard as making a 1905 Colt barrel with the two toggle links.
