Just picked up a 500 jrh in a bfr. Looking to run 1000-1100 fps with a 400-450 grain bullet, and I need it to be accurate and stable to at least 200 yards.

Any experience with nose profiles, nose length, etc that will limit my options. Of course, I'm looking for those who may have personal experience here.

I'm thinking keeping the meplat to 70-72%, and a nose of .4 or so. Would prefer 425-440 grain weight (although I'm not sure how stable this weight range will be at the lower velocity I primarily want to shoot at), and I plan to run a softer alloy of 10-12 bhn, if possible.

Plain base, of course.

One option is to have accurate molds make a mold with a double crimp groove, allowing for .4 nose with 1.4" jrh brass and ~.5 nose with 1.285" special brass.
