I have been wanting to get a flintlock Squirrel rifle for a while now and finally pulled the trigger! Bought a Kibler .36 caliber SMR with a 46” barrel. Can’t wait to get it in my hands. Just trying to figure out all the accoutrements now!

Wow, how nice,, I too have wanted a small cal. Muzzle loader , shot one at the range one time,, it was a kick. It will be a great thrill for you the first small game you take with it.

Is this your first flintlock? Did you build it or buy it already assembled? There are several good videos on what you need on YouTube.

Keeping your flint sharp is very important. Real black powder in pan and down the tube. Check with Jim Kibler to see if he has a recommendation for ball and patch. He will also be able to tell you the correct size flint for his locks. Make sure you have a flash hole pick. It doesn't have to be fancy, anything the fits through the hole. I personally keep a small bottle of alcohol in my kit for swabbing the barrel between shots.

Those are great guns. I have helped students build dozens of them.
