Three freight line shipping containers were robbed of Winchester ammunition in in early September, according to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The bureau said it is searching for two vehicles in connection with the thefts at the freight stations in Morrisville, Kernersville and Wilmington.

The real heist would be 3 containers of primer's if its money they want.

So not much ammo if it fits in a 4 door and an suv. Slow day at ATF?

If they count single rounds it sounds like a lot and makes for 'click bait'.

I'm sure more is stolen "internally" everyday than this.
Maybe their reporting this to cover up "missing" ammo.

Inside job, someone knew where the ammo was going and the routes. Three containers on the same day defies coincidence.

agreed... stolen ammo of that volume? wow.. no lost or stolen guns in ups / fedex hands to investigate. i bet shipping companies loose that much ammo daily...

Sound more like CIA/FBI inside job. Ammo prolly already sold to Ukraine.

It made Fox News but no mention of how much ammo. Slow Joe Biden and the Feds would certainly want everyone to know so the anti's can panic, scream for more gun control.

I have three witnesses that will swear I was at an ANTIFA rally in Cleveland when it happened.

Stealing a car full of ammo is small potatoes.

One of the biggest jewelry heists ever happened earlier this year as the goods were being shipped from show to show. $8.7 million in declared goods were taken and the jewelers are saying the actual loses could equal up to $100 million.

I’ll keep an eye peeled.

With vehicle descriptions that well defined giving them an excuse to storm about half the populations vehicle

I looked online today hoping to find a reliable source about this theft, good luck with that. One account has it that while 3 containers were broken into, only one was missing any ammunition. As best as they could tell, a major haul of 4 cases may have been taken from it. Should be interesting to see if there is any follow up on the real count. A 4 door sedan and an SUV? That took some serious thought and planning for a haul that huge.

4 cases may have been taken from it --- a case is 1k rnds? 25# per case. Big difference with what was originally reported.

My Tundra is a silver 4 door. I hope they don't start looking in Tennessee.

Most 9mm I bought at my old shop came 500 rnds or ten boxes a case. Really bugs some delivery guys when you order 10K or more at a time.

All this for 2,000 rounds of 9mm?

If it was packed in GI package .......I think it's been a while it's about 4400 rounds per box . The boxes are like 108# per box with 4 30 cal cans inside each . A pallet is 36 boxes . 3 layers of 12 on a 40×48 . Short of an Excursion or 3500 Suburban they didn't get away with a pallet . If they tossed 5-6 boxes in the sedan it'd be pretty obvious unless it was on the floor in the back seat . I don't see much more than twice that being in in the SUV even if it was a Suburban/Excursion class .

If they got away with 20 boxes I still don't see 88,000 rounds being worth life in prison. Of course that's a quarter of a million rounds for 3 hits so maybe it does make sense.
