I have this Taurus PT640 Pro 40 cal. Bought it new, and it has always shot low, about 8" at 8 yards. Tried to find a new adjustable rear sight, but can't find one, it seems they say Taurus groove is a bastard size. Filing down the front sight won't work either, would take filing away almost all the sight. I think that if I load 180 gr cast bullets with 4.4 gr of bullseye it would be about 750 fps and might raise the point of impact rup.. What do you think? Wallacem inGa

You haven't mentioned the weight of bullet that is shooting low. A heavier bullet will impact higher.

A lower velocity will also raise the point of impact. The difference in my 14” 44 Mag Contender going from 850 FPS 44 Special loads to 1600 FPS Magnum loads with the same boolit is huge. The reason is that the slower boolit stays in the barrel longer, causing the gun to move more before it clears the barrel.

Make sure that at least two other shooters have the same problem. Another brands sight that is loose in the slot can be shimmed to a tight fit.
