My rifle mold casts bullets just shy of .312" using a mix of 1 part pure lead and 6 parts linotype. My question is, would it fill out the same using COWW or 1-20 alloy? If not, how much difference would I see?

"fill out" as in crisp sharp edges of the cast bullet?

"Fill out" as in cast a larger diameter?

Scroll down page, on left hand side....bullet shrinkage.
You may lose 1/2 a thou with COWW, but all that depends on alloy composition. I have found that coww is very good for everything that I load. I have plenty of lino, but never use it.

I was looking for diameter.

The amount of antimony in the alloy is the largest factor on bullet diameter. Reduce the amount of antimony in the alloy, you reduce as cast diameter. Just like mentioned in post #3.

If you are looking for a larger diameter, you might try Beagling the mold.

Is that what you want for diameter?

If you want it larger, powder coat will add over a .001. I have used 2 coats of powder to use the 30 cal boolit in a mosin nagot.

Casting cooler alloy reduces shrinkage too.
