I am restoring a Win 72a and am in need of a stock. The original portion forward of the bolt handle was completely shattered and beyond saving.
Condition not important, anything that will work. I can refinish or repair damage.

Does anyone know of another model stock whick can be substituted with some work.

This will be a "useable gun" not looking to restore to original condition. The action and barrel are in fair condition with some exterior rust. After disassembly, cleaning and replacing some action parts I have fired it and it shoots quite well.

Anyone have or know of a stock or just the portion behind the action please PM me. Thank you. gjh

Silver Hill Gunstocks. NC is now doing business as Gunville (www.gunville.com). On page #15 of their web listing is the Winchester 72. They make blanks that are about 85-90% shaped & their walnut is a higher grade that original. Some fitting is required. Their price is $92. + shipping. They also have reproduction butt plates & some stock hardware.

I bought one back when they were Silver Hill Gunstocks (see my post on Remington 521 "Sporter").
Phone number:336-230-6686

Added:
The 72 is the tubular magazine version of the 69. If you can locate a 69 stock, you could add a channel for the tubular magazine, plug the clip hole & plug the clip magazine release hole on the left side. I think the Gunville option is best.

I wish you luck on your search.
I still have the one I bought in 1962 when I was 10 years old. It was my first rifle and has fired many thousands of rounds.
I used it for squirrels for decades.
It still shoots very accurately.
