I was viewing some of my load data for 180gr jwords this morning and noticed a possible discrepancy in the load date in the Speer manuals. Apparently my hard cover binder book contains two manuals in it (it was a gift) and I am unable to determine the years of production for either manual to say which came first if that would matter. Look at the H110 data and tell me what you think. I understand that one set of data is for under 1K velocity and the other is for over 1K along with the barrel length difference but is it correct that four grains of H110 will only get 50fps difference in the shorter barrel ? I was looking for some 180gr 1000fps loads for my 4.25" S&W Model 69 when I opened the book. Thanks.

That looks like Sierra data.
Spring for a newer manual.

I have all my books from the 60's and its interesting. But, I don't use it these days. There was a lot of "Ignorance is Bliss" type stuff going on back in the day. H110 with an asterisk on the data......Well, even then be careful. These are history books now.

It does look like a Sierra book & not Speer.

I'll echo the above folks,, get the more current manuals instead of relying upon older ones. As an instructor, I recommend to all my students; "As technology changes,, and gets applied,, we often learn much more than previously known. And with that, can also come improvements in both the materials, (powder technology & manufacturing) as well as the testing of such materials. BUY THE MOST UP TO DATE MANUALS AS POSSIBLE & KEEP UPDATING THEM!"

You are correct. It is a Sierra manual. I don't know why I said Speer. I also agree on using newer manuals. I am in the process of buying all new manuals and currently have the Hornady and Nosler newest editions. I had three older Sierra manuals up on the shelf in storage and simply took a gander to see what they had. I keep the "active" manuals on the table by the press.

I would pass on that H110 data. The 17.7gn load is only 58% load density. Looks like a recipe for a squib to me.
I'm thinking Unique or 2400 would be a much better choice.
