take paste wax off?

i'm going to poly some of my rifles. (3 poly:1 mineral spirits) i need to take the Johnsons' paste wax off and keep the minwax antique oil on. what do i use?

I use lacquer thinner.

I use Denatured Alcohol to remove the paste wax off the steel parts after glass bedding stocks.
And I need to remove the paste wax before I blue the parts.

We always used ammonia on the wax on the floors.
