What primers are used in Win .357 nickled factory primed brass?

Since it's cooler in my shop today I started digging through to the back of a couple shelves. Lucky me, I found a box of 1,000 Winchester factory primed nickled .357 brass that I bought from Midway ages ago. My question is do any of you know whether Win used standard or magnum primers in this brass? Thank you for any input. GF

Me personally, I would be 99% sure they were not magnum primed. Magnum primers are specific to certain powders. Back when it was easy to purchased primed brass, they were offered to a broad customer base. So, most likely standard primers. Also, me personally, even if they were it would make little difference in my load choices.

I would bet a dollar to a donut hole that the cases are primed with these primers .

When I first started reloading in 1963, the local gun shop had two fish bowls of .38 brass they were selling for reloading. One contained large primed brass, and the other contained small primed brass. I still have a few examples of the large primed .38 brass, but the large primed .357 Magnum brass has eluded me.

I have found even Blazer aluminum 45 ACP ammo comes in large or small primer and 45-70 will be found with large or small primers ,

I have never came across 357 or 38 with the large primer

Well, at least for my comment, I did not mean it in a cranky way.
With the verbiage on the original post being '...bought from Midway...' I am assuming that these would not be early 357 production. 357 Came out what, 1930's, and Midway started 1980s?
It is funny what you see though (hardware & print). I recently saw a good gun writer not seeming to know why some 45 ACP cases had oversize flash holes: My memory is this was on early lead free primer offerings from (I think) CCI. (Quite possibly others as well, and perhaps for some other reason at some other time by a manufacturer.)

Does anyone know when the manufacturers stopped making large primer .38 and/or .357 brass? Just curious. I realized that they made both, but I'm wondering if they stopped manufacturing it during WWII, or after.

I believe Peters made them until the early 50's. I had a box of them but threw them away when they kept getting mixed up with my other small primer brass.

I have full boxes of Winchester Staynless, Remington UMC Dogbone Kleanbore, and Peters Rustless 357 Magnum, all with large primer pockets. It has always been my thought that these were pre war, and that when production resumed 357 cases used small pistol primers. The box that has eluded me is the United States Cartridge Co pre war box...........

I think the large primer 38 Special cases were experimental, pre production cases used during the first 357 experiments.

Not just for the bigger spark, but the thicker cup to handle magnum pressures.

I used to have a few of the 38/44 (Heavy frame 38 special) cases but have never seen any of the 357 LP cases. I read about them somewhere but have never seen any.
