Remington .22 Mod 572 pump help.

Since I pulled the trigger mechanism out to replace a broken fireing pin the hammer won't fall when I put it back together. I have racked my brain for many evenings trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've found no info on the web on this. I really don't want to send it back to Rem. just for something that should be so simple.

Anyone familiar with the inner-workings of this rifle?

Got a $5 beater sitting next to the back door and a nice one in the safe

Same basic trigger they put on a 870 but with a few differances

I have played with both trigger groups to drop the pull

Right off the top of my head
One thing that will cause the hammer to not fall is a missing or to short of a sear return spring , part # 74 I believe
It goes between part # 72 and 15 or 16
