Well, almost free. I still see lots of targets used by fellow casters on this site that are made up of butcher paper and electrical tape. I have an easier way, and one that allows for more precise aiming. There are several good websites that have targets that you can copy on your home copier.
My favorite site is www.uspalma.com, which has a variety of great targets you can copy for free. One of the best has a central squarish type bullseye with eight smaller square bullseyes around it. The smaller squares have a square white center in them. Simply adjust the power on your scope to almost fill the white part with just a little white showing so as to make sure you are centered perfectly in the center. Best to shoot the larger square in the center of the target first to get sighted in , then shoot 5 or ten shot groups on each of the other eight. Saves a lot of walking, especially if you have a spoting scope. Walking is for exercise buffs. Just my 2 bits.

Thanks for the link. There are some good targets there. I found a couple that'll be fun to use across the pond, 300 yards!

Preacher, thanks for the link.

I have a question for you benchrest shooters. How do you use the squares? I always use the bottom right hand corner of the square and line up my crosshairs on the corner. How do you use a circle with a square at the top of the circle?

Thanks,

Dean D.

I bought a set of target rubber stamps many years ago. The one I use most is a 2" square with a 1" circle in the middle. For the price of one cartridge of printer ink, I can buy a quart of stamp pad ink and pads. I use large pieces of paper, recently I've been using the sheets from one of those huge tablets that are used for visual aids at seminars and company pep talks/training. I use the backside of the used sheets. I can get about 30 targets on one of these sheets, which saves a lot of hassle walking back and forth at the organized shooting range I use.

I print out almost all of my targets off a couple of different sites AND it is always on used paper that was already used for one reason or another, I just print on the other side. You can even use paper that was folded, I use alot of the junk mail that I get !
My printer is a combo printer, copier, fax machine so I save master copies of the targets and just copy them so I don't even have to go on to the computer or website.

It is difficult for me to go to to a website to copy someone elses idea of a target and stay in keeping with my do it yourself spirit. Kinda like buying boolits another has cast. Myself, I like the sides of beer and soda cartons and a 2" square of colored paper taped in center. I'm buying the cardboard anyway and it is far superior to paper for clean boolit hole edges. I later either recycle the shot up board or use them in starting fires in our wood stove. Waste not want not...

Forgot to mention that I make a master copy with the "best" button on my HP 2110. Makes a real dark ink copy. Write MASTER on the back, or clip some of the corners to identify it as a master. I then put all my master copys of different targets in a paper folder and use them to make shooting copys on the "normal" setting which saves ink. Yep, I use scrap paper too. Glad to be of help for once. Now that everybody likes me, I might start another Cheap Scope thread and make everybody mad again. HA!

Stop by about any newspaper or weekly mailbox stuffer and ask if they have any paper roll ends. Usually they don`t run right to the end of those mammoth rolls. They usually stop when there is about 50 ft. of more of paper left. This is the full size of a newspaper page height. They may hit you a few bucks or point you to the dumpster where they are tossed. I`ve been using this stuff for targets for shotguns as well as rifles, just cut off what you need and make your aim point. Robert
