I just received my ingot mold in the mail today and it looks like it may be not viable. The inside of the mold has a ton of what looks like casting slag sticking out into the cavities. I am not sure if ingots would drop out. Is this normal and I just need to grind them out, or should I call lee? Or is it fine and I should just mold?

normal is not. Call Lee:
Lee would certainly help change the defective item, but both of your solutions make sense, if you can't wait for an answer by their Customer Service.
sure a photo would help_

Your ingots will fall right out of that baby. One little tap on the cement and they'll be gone.. I'd use them.

I wouldn't beat him on concrete but on some scrap wood :),
however I would use it without problems, as said Captaint.

Sounds good, thanks guys, I just thought it was weird the outside is in better shape than the inside.

You’re right that it’s weird the inside wasn’t as good as the outside. Try it and if you are not happy call Lee. They are known for not being great on quality control, but are fast to replace items, normally without any hassle.
