Now our USPS ships flat rate boxes for a decent cost
Even with the rate increase

BUT the boxes do not always show up looking very good

But I got a box a few days ago that way open
Mark ( I will not post the last name ) casted up some bullets for me to try
I got the box
But it had IMO been opened and sort of closed back up ( both ends were open )
As inside was a plastic bag and 1/2 of the note he had written me

Now I will also admit I deleted a number of PM's
The PM from Mark was one of them
So , My fault
As I would like you to PM me your address
As the return address is unreadable

You went to the trouble to cast the bullets and send them to me
I still want to pay for the shipping as I said I would

So Mark
Please PM me your address

John

This is why I ALWAYS use a tyvek envelope inside the box. They are next to indestructible and if needed I can put a note inside it. And I put a mailing label on the outside of it in case the box is destroyed.

I have a 'Post Office proof' method for loose, heavy stuff.
I put all the loose stuff in a cloth bag and sew it shut. Then put it in the Post Office's box.

Great idea!

I once ordered 100 .30 cal sierra bullets from a guy in Louisiana, I’m only in NC. Only one bullet survived the trip in the mangled up box. The seller reimbursed me. Packing tape and lots of it is your best friend.

The wife just got a box of meds that was torn open and loosely put back together, meds were in a plastic bag with pillow type packing holding everything in the box. Definitely not an "accident". I fill your pain.

silage wrap is like heavy duty gladwrap/food wrap...multiple layers around a parcel, then layers of gaffers/hundred mile hour/duct tape over that and then into plastic courier bag seems to work well.....but a fella has to wonder what the plonkers in mail rooms get up to ,its a lot of damage to a small package.... I take it as a personal challenge to make packages as indestructible as possible.

Yup I ship allot and have learned what to and not to do.

SFR only 10-15# NO MORE! Med & large ya can push 35#.

DOUBLE BOX on another over 20#.

TYVEK BAG EVERYTHING!!! (Free from PO!)

I buy heavy 5mil zip loc bags. Any heavier and they get VERY DIFFICULT to open when small. Then clear pack tape all around. Also EVERY pack gets one of those free mailing labels I get for free in the mail. JUST INCASE it makes it out if the beox before destination.

Then lastly, TAPE TAPE TAPE nearly every inch of that box with good clear tape!! Fibet tape is better but PO gets cranky when you obscure there bar codes and the blasted things are always where ya want a good wrap of fiber tape. So I just use GOOD clear 3M packing tape. SURE ITS COSTLY!! But cheaper then fiber AND peace of mind is priceless.

OR DONE and continue to whine about problems. It suks YES we know... But we cant fix stupid and only guard against. I also hate just defence. But its the hand we are delt.

Got a box with some jwords and a couple of other things from brownells the other day. FedEx. One whole side of the box was ripped top to bottom dint know how, but everything was still inside the box. Just a bit of paper wrapping for filler. Tape, yes, should put some all around the box

Tape is so cheap, it's generous use saves so much.

I sent a large flat rate box full of tire chains to a friend a few states over. Tells me a wet, tape covered box arrived, contents intact.

I few years ago I bought a Forster Coax press. The Seller put in a medium flat rate box and put in the mail. Part of a corner casting and some extra parts were missing and of course the Press punched thru the side of the box! Yes, I got I got my $50. from USPS, but I have a press no one will want, should I want to sell! Rant over, hc18flyer
