You probably give up a tiny bit of velocity due to the air space left in a 357 mag case compared to a 38 special case. I kinda like your idea though. Just one setting of the dies. Not having to change from 38 to 357.

Yep, been doing it that way for years (though I never chronographed them). I liked it so much I gave my .38 brass away.
