I was gifted a 1924 made Savage Sporter in 25-20, and along with that a bunch of coated cast bullets.
I have not been a great fan of PC bullets, and I was thinking I might run them through the Star sizer and size/lube them.
I would think that would be OK but I like to have other opinions before i go off on a wild goose chase.
I will scope the rifle and it will become my go-to chuck gun.
With jacketed bullets and 296 powder, it can be a pretty good critter gitter.
But I want to use these bullets up.
Thoughts?

Go for it !
I usually size and tumble lube PC'd boolits
(plain base including 25-20) and load them to 1600 - 1800 fps.
Works great when you find the right powder combination.
I like to see that slick bore.

Personally, I don't think you need to lube them but, I don't see where it can harm anything to lube them either.

My thought is on the drive band the PC will be sized off and the lube will be squirted into the lube groove....so i guess it would be the same as cast.
I don't know.
My go to powder for standard loads is 231, 296 for magnums. I like to keep life simple.

I shoot almost exclusively PC'd boolits now a days, including .300 Blackout through a can and have had zero problems. Before you go to all that trouble load up a handful first and see what you get. Being able to save that step might be nice if you are going to be loading a lot of them and I seem to remember you have some hungry toys. :Fire:

Not in the 25-20 yet, but I’ve found a dramatic accuracy increase, reduction of flyers by aloxing over Hitek in my 310 cadet

My favourite 25/20 load is a PC'd 80gn boolit with 9.4gn of 4227.

...the drive band the PC will be sized off and the lube will be squirted into the lube groove....Sizing won't even touch the coating on a properly-PC'd bullet.
It'll just size down with the rest of the bullet.

Now there is a piece of information I did not know.
Makes sense though.
I think i will set up to do a few and see what happens - AFTER I load a ton of 223. :)
Setting up a Star sizer and a Dillon 550 for short runs makes no sense.
