Clymer's site is under construction. Does anyone have drawings of 308, 30/06 and/or 30-30 chambers with the throats dimensioned?
Thanks;
joe b.

Joe, I saved a few of the Clymer reamer specs before they closed the page down. I only have one of what you want - the 30-30. However Clymer only showed just the chamber reamer specs. any throat modifications were done with a separate reamer.

I have the SAMMI Chamber / throat spec data on the 30-30 and the C.I.P Standard specs on the 308 Winchester and 30-06 Springfield.

Attached are some 1/2 sized drawings from my Precision Chamber Dimension Software that show the critical dimensions.

If you would like copies of the full sized drawings, let me know and I can email them.

Hope this helps.

Tom;
These are exactly what I need.
Your post and the pictures are very wide.
I get some different angles after a bit of trig.
The 308 shows throat going from .308" to .300"angle in .158" and throat angle of >1.45 degrees. With .308" to .300" in .158" thats .004"/.158"=.025316 as the tangent of the angle of 1 degree 27 minutes. Other angles show the difference, which has little effect on anything. Maybe it's my figuring.
These drawings use "freebore" and "throat" such that they are easily understood.
Thanks, and I'll be back.

Your powers of observation are keen and your trigonometry is excellent. I neglected to convert the minute portion of the angle to a decimal value before entering the angle into the database. The throat angle should be 1 degree and 45 minutes or 1.75 degrees so that the computer can work with it.

I re-checked the throat angle on the 30-06 and it is specified as 1 degree and 22 minutes, so the angle of 1.36667 degrees is valid there.

Please bear in mind that the values from the C.I.P. Standard specifications are displayed are metric and in the case of firearms originating in the U.S. have been converted from inches to the metric system. In re-converting the values from metric back to inches the precision is valid to only 3 decimal places. But that is close enough for Govt. work.

I corrected the mistake and re-posted the image. Please forgive my lack of attentiveness. Occasionally the forest is so dense that I cannot see the trees.

The post is wide because I have not yet developed the software to the point that it will display only the throat/lead area on demand. I could crop the images, but then I would need to re-label and move some values before posting. To do that, I need to convert back to bitmap to alter them and then reconvert to either jpg or gif files to display on the net, etc, etc, etc. So for now the posts are wide.

Tom, I like the drawings the size they are, it gives me the option to save this size in my files and allows me to look at them in this size at my leisure. More important I will be able to know where to find it instead of asking someone here.
