Removing old lube

Ive got some t/c maxi hunters that are 20 years old and they were packed inside a tube. the lube was old and the bullets stuck inside the tube. I boiled them and got the tube off but the lube wont come off. i boiled them 3 times and some of the lube came off but most didn't. i put them in a jar with MEK and shake them and some lube came off but still not all.

What can i use to take off the old lube. I believe its old bore butter. thanks, mike

it should melt. Heat gun or the oven[if wife aint home] set on several paper towels and heat to about 200 . Bore butter is not a petrolum base so alcohol may work better

I put about 500 on a pan with paper towels under them. Left them in the oven at 200 for about 45 minutes. All of them cleaned up so that they could be relubed. Oh yes I waited till the wife left to run errands.

Might find an old toaster oven to use, rather then SWMBO's oven...

Thanks for the suggestions. Someone else tole me to spray them with oven cleaner.
