Old New to me 429421 2 cav Lyman

So I picked up a used 429421 lyman bullet 2 cav bullet mould, Cast with it once
Bullets just fall from the mould, it has been lapped out to .432 +-

one hole of sprune plate is perfect centered .. other cavity is off app .05 very visible

will the off center sprune on the bullets affect long range accuracy 44 mag . 444 marlin (rifle)

it has the thin lyman sprune plate
????

leave it or
make a new sprun plate . with the holes centered ?

That is my favorite mold for the 44 mag. Both of the holes in my mold are off about the amount you mention, so I don't know how well one would shoot it the hole was centered.

IMO, don’t worry about it. A few years ago one of the big things to do was offsetting the screw plate so the hole was on the edge of the bullet base to help produce a “better” base. I could never tell a difference.

KISS principal here as in most things. Cast a quality of bullets, seperate the bullets centered sprue hole and off center sprue hole, work up a load with the centered sprue hole ones that is accurate then try the off center sprue hole ones with the same load.
Be reasonable and fire more than one group with both. If there is a slight difference ask yourself if you are a good enough field shot to tell the difference and then be concerned if you are that good remembering most don't take a bench rest into the field to hunt, plink and blast.
Think about it.
BTW, before anyone gets their feathers ruffled I used KISS as Keep It Super Simple, not anything else. Occam's Razor principal so to speak.

The cheapest thing to try if it bothers you is a 2 cavity mold rebuild kit from Lyman. New sprue plate and replacement screws.

I've been using alu molds only for more than 20 years.
this will be my first iron, bought 2nd hand after reading this tread.
before I start/try to cast, are there key points of difference in use?

Warm up times differ you will not have as quick a cycle time nor as long of a cool down when waiting on your sprue puddle to cool. Be very judicious in keeping it oiled as I believe it would rust much quicker in Venice. I don't know what you are shooting it out of, but would try it both bare and with checks if it is out of a handgun.

but I will see if on Lee molds (I think I have all their .429/.430 line) or on this new entry.

(yes, Venice is a true rust nightmare, but in Ballistol I trust ).
