Hi Guy's
I was wondering, would I be able to use 30/30 starting loads and reduce them a bit for cast bullets in the .307 Win,I can't find any cast info on the .307 using 150,160 180cast bullets.
What would you suggest?
I was thinking of using 30/30 cowboy action data for the .307,what you all reckon?,I would not get SEE would I ?
I mainly use the Aussie powders,ADI,but some are made for Hodgdon, like H322 is AR2219,H4895 is AR2206H and so on.just go to the Hodgdon website and look for their MSDS and you will see.
I have unique Re-7,can anyone help?

Thanks in Advance

The .307 is a basically a rimmed .308 capacity wise. While .30-30 cast bullet starting loads will probably work just file, I would look at the cast starting loads for .308. You should get performance numbers closer to the published data. Loads for the .30-30 will run much slower than published due to larger case volume. Unique is a good powder for cowboy loads. A bit smokey and sooty for some but it is not position sensitive in light rifle loads. My experience with it in the .30-30 showed very consistant velocity over the chrongraph.

I agree with CA Plater -- use starting 308 data. Be careful, though, a typical 30-30 lever gun isn't up to the hotter 308 charges. Keep your pressures close to 30-30 limits. You didn't mention the type gun you're loading for, but I'm assuming it is a Win or Marlin lever gun?

I rechambered a Marlin 336 to 307, and it's my second-most-favorite walkabout gun. I load with the Lee soupcan over 18.5 WC820. It's a very light load but is a real coyote-getter out to about 125 yds. Pretty durn accurate, but that's by my standards. I'm not nearly the goood shot that many others here are, and am satisfied with 2-3 inches at a hunnert.

My most accurate cast load for the .308 is 29.5 gr Varget and RCBS 180sp bullet. Soft shooting and very accurate.
Have fun!

Thanks to all that replied
I have a .307Win Mod 94 Winchester.
I've got the RCBS 180gn mould,that's one of them,so I will use .308Win Cast loads(Start)and I'd be right I take it?
I think I might go and but a pound of SR4759,I see that is a good powder for most rifles.
Thanks Guys
