Picked up at a local auction A .45 Japanese Miroku made Kentucky long rifle. It’s one of the ultra hi gonna blow up anytime muzzleloaders that I read about on the World Wide Web. I’ve been shooting it with 60 grains of powder and a patched round ball. Accuracy is good and I’m looking forward to deer hunting with it. I even made a Powder measure and bullet starter out of deer horn. FBC

If you are worried about it Blowing up, then do a Proof Test on the barrel.
I did a post on building a test cradle so you can test the barrel and not crack your stock.
Test the barrel with double the load that you intend on shooting.
You really need to be confidante in your rifle.

I’m not worried about blowing it up. I was merely making a joke about the things you read about on the Internet. I got my first Japanese muzzleloader 40 years ago here’s a picture of it from last fall……FBC

I have the exact same Miroku Ultra-Hi ML and it shoots 250 grain conical bullets with 70 grains of 2F very well. Bought it as a kit about 45 years ago.

I'm with Indian Joe, I didn't even know they made muzzle loaders! If they are anything like their rifles and shotguns they are top notch.

I've been hearing things about the Ultra Hi claiming them to be pretty questionable on the quality. I've seen one Miroku and it seemed to be well made. Am curious as to how well made the Ultra Hi is.

I have a Miroku Kentucky style pistol. It seems to be a nice pistol although I went to the range one day and when I went to fire the first shot the cock just flapped back and forth. I took the lock of and found the mainspring had broken where the main bend is in the spring. I had to buy a spring for a Traditions and file it to fit.

It is a Miroku built rifle .Ultra hi was the importer I'm guessing. Seems good quality and shoots nice. FBC
