I want to get one and open to suggestions, opinions, comments.

Currently looking at the S&W 317 and 43C, but also the Ruger LCR. Kinda leaning to the 43C so far.

The North American arms are small. I bought a few in 22 LR and 22 WMR. Easy to carry.

I've always bought S&W or Ruger when it comes to revolvers, at least somewhat trusted brands. Dunno about NAA.

NAA are quality products, but I look at them more as jewelry.
I have one that fits in a belt buckle. I love it, but for self-defense, not so much, better than nothing though.

Another option is a Charter Arms Pathfinder. I have used the older versions, and liked them.

NAA pistols, are perfect for what they where made for.
Get off/away from me now!
They disappear in you pocket, and you can get holsters for them too.

Choose what feels good in your hand.

I don't want a "toy" NAA. A J-frame it needs to be. Lightweight is also a must. This leads me to the S&W and Ruger. I've heard some good stuff about Charter Arms, but it's hard to ignore the brand recognition and history of the two "leaders", and I've had lots of centerfire revolvers from both.

NAA revolvers are not toys. I have 2, both in .22mag. But if you want a J frame well that's what you want.

The NAA is unquestionably a real firearm and I don't doubt for a second it's lethality and rendered due respect.

IMHO the NAA is so tiny, so minuscule, that it's at least in the realm of "toy" micro size that will be harder for me to manipulate than any J-frame.

Anyhoo, after very careful deliberation and perusal of a gaggle .22LR snubbies, I went with the Ruger LCR.

Had a S&W 34 2 inch years ago. Got stupid and sold. After regretting that I picked up another 34 4 in, Still regret, liked 2 in better. Recently got a 317, Love it except for V rear sight GW

S&W Model 63 J-frame has been good for me, although I'm not sure I would say it's really a pocket gun with the 3" barrel.

If I needed one that small, I would probably go for a S&W 43C or a Ruger LCR. Chris Baker on LuckyGunner did a video a few years back on small 22s and I seem to recall he thought well of the LCR.

Yeah, my choice narrowed down real fast to between the 43C and LCR - there were good things about both, I could have tossed a coin. There was a plus or two more in favor of the LCR and that's what's been ordered ... along with a Hogue green laser grip.

I once had a nice 22lr revolver. I think it was interarmes or similar. I started carrying it to discharge large animals in my traps. I could keep it inside my parka so it would stay warm and function. My 22lr rifle often wouldn’t fire below -35F. The revolver was a nice little gun. Too bad someone stole it.

Not a revolver, but the Beretta 22a (or Taurus model) with the tip-up barrels are about as awesome as they come. Highly recommended.

I have a 317 with 3" adj sights perfect for beginners. I love the little revolver. Super light weight and great single action trigger.

I also vote for the NAA. I have one in my pocket now in WMR, 1.25” barrel and fold under grip that actually make just about a full sized handle when flipped open. Fits in your coin pocket if you wish.

I've moved off .45acp, .357mag, .38spl and 9mm to the lowly .22LR ... it's taken decades for acceptance and confident usage.

I know, I know, it's a rimfire, and unreliable for ignition or "man stopping". I got over all that.

I prefer the Ruger LCR--it has proven to be more reliable than the 317 IME--but I carry a 38 spl S&W 342;)

I went with the LCR. Wife has one in 38 and they handle very much alike. 38 does have a bigger bang though.

I have S&W, Colt, Ruger, H&R and a Charter Arms . I was disappointed in the Charter Arms at first, finally sent back and the company got it a straight at no cost and now I love it. A lot of good brands out there if you can find one for sale at a fair price. Tim

I have both, but prefer the LCR over the Model 34/63 for pocket carry. YMMV though.

Story about the Charter arms. My brother had one loaded with 4 rounds of shot and one hard nose. He had been seeing a large wood rat running around the house and he want to get it. He lived in a small city where he was a captain on the fire department. One day he sees the rat in the front yard and runs out to get it. First shot the rat spun around and ran in the opposite direction. Second shot and the rat does a 180. Third shot and the rat runs right at him. As the rat ran between his feet the forth shot which killed the rat. The shot had just been bouncing off, the plastic shot capsule killed the rat. This happened in the middle of a neighborhood and not one phone call to the cops.
I just picked up a northern arms with both cylinders and a 4" barrel. Took it to the range and it was not doing so well and then the rear sight fell off. Seems it was never tightened. The shorter barrel would be easier to hide but I never cared for short barrels. If you don't mind carrying a little bulk you can't beat a 1911.
