I have a Mossberg 930 (JM Pro). I have a question for you feloow 930 owners about the extractor. I don't know if it is a new development or not, but I noticed that the extractor is a bit floppy. I would expect the extractor spring to have a more positive constant interface (tension) on the extractor.

I noticed that it doesn't as positively eject cases when practicing loading with dummies. It is as if the extractor isn't getting as positive purchase on the rim as would be ideal. I replaced the spring but no change. It does cycle pretty reliably with ammo, however.

Normally I don't chamber dummies, but some drills call for loading a single from a match saver.

Is your 930 extractor loose and floppy, or is it more positively engaged by the spring and rod under it?

Mossberg was absolutely zero help. They asked me to ship the whole gun at my cost, both ways, in order to give any advice. Wouldn't do anything over the phone kr with photos or email, etc.

My extractor is firmly in place. No undue wobblys, spring is strong

Thank you Mr Peabody! As I expected. I wonder if the channel the houses the spring and little plunger was drilled too deep so that the plunger isn't in contact with mine.

I think I'm going to try to fashion a small spacer to go below the spring. Shouldn't need to take up much room.

I buy parts from Mossberg when they're in stock, have you tried replacing what's in there?

Yep, at least the spring. The little plunger is not a wear item so I didn't replace it.
