I am tooling up to start loading 38 Super and Super Comp. It seems that VV N105 is the best for screaming velocities. I have none of that on hand and can't find any. On burn rate charts N105 is near WW 630, which I have 3 pounds.
Does anybody have load data for 124gr and 147gr j-words?

Are ya shootin a 1911?

WHen I started loading 38 Super for my RIA 1911, I was hoping for some hot loads. But I learned quick while working up my load using Win540, that the brass was getting launched into the next zip code when I started getting to near max. I suppose I could change a spring or something, but I choose to keep the gun stock and just work down the load to have ejected brass land were I wanted it to, and that load was plenty accurate from my standards.
Anyway, that was just food for thought.

You might find it difficult to get published Win630 data, because it's kind slow for that application.
I did find some in my "Nick Harvey" manual for 125gr.
10.4gr = 1160fps
11.6gr = 1300fps
good luck...

It will be a 1911, but a custom 6" from Fusion Firearms. It will be fed 124gr and 147gr bullets.

Speer 125 gr rn 10.2 gr @1126 fps to 11.6 gr @1287 fps.

Speer 125 gr rn lead 10.4 gr @1162 fps to 11.6 gr @1303 fps

Thanx. That will get me started. I'll figure something out for 147gr pills

I'M in preparation to do something similar, but with a Tanfoglio Witness. I'm hoping to find a jug of N105 for multiple cartridges, but especially the .38 Super.
I noticed that AA#7 also gives excellent velocities for 125s and 147s. It might be more obtainable than the N105 in the short run.

I hope you'll keep me posted on your progress.

You'll probably get there before me. I have the frame and have not ordered the "upper" yet. After that I will have to fit it. That's not gonna stop me from loading for it though. I have 600 cases on the way and the 200 I have, just came out of the tumbler!! Time to start priming!

Man 3 pounds. I used to use that in 357 magnums back in the day. It was a great magnum pistol powder.
