If any of you have some Hornady .358 158 grain XTP bullets, could you give me the dimension from the base to the approximate center of the cannelure?

Thanks

Don't know if this helps, but I have some .357 xtp's 158 grn. From base to center of cannelure is .354"

From the base of the bullet to the middle of the cannelure measured with my calipers I get 0.3765! And by the way Hornaday 38 caliber, 158 grn XTP ( Hornaday #35750) have a listed diameter of .357 not .358!

The difference may be the ones I have are hornady#35780. They are skived hollow points, but have fp/xtp in the description. Cheap digital caliper and old eyes, still show .354.

In a situation such as this ... who do you believe ?
.354" .... or .3765" that's a .0225 difference ...?

We need a couple more measurements ... I don't have any to measure !

Hornady 35780 are labeled flat points. They have a small hollow point compared to the 35750. I have 35750, but no 35780’s.

It is the 35750 I am interested in. Sorry for any confusion.

On my 35750, I get 0.341" to the bottom of the cannelure and 0.381" to the top. Mid-point would then be 0.361" on my bullets

I measure .370” from base to middle of cannelure, #35750.

And I got 0.343 and 0.385 so midpoint 0.364

Not sure I have the eyes to be anymore precise but three thousands longer than rockrat and 1 thousandth less than poppy. It is right around there though.

I got .360 to center of cannelure.
