That's the problem with people that live by the ocean they always trying to get to the mountains. Took me 17 years to get out of the Virginia mountains to live by the ocean and never looked back. :)

We were hoping to hit the peak of the flower season - mountain laurel and Rhododendron - but the cold spring put us here a little too early. we'll still do a little hiking - LOML is limited in how far she can go - and waterfalls are always on the menu.

There is absolutely no place to park on 64 close to the falls. I assume there is another way in?

If you are in this area and like dark beers - stop at Whiteside Brewery in Cashiers, NC. They make the only Porter that I have ever called 'luscious'! I got the last of the last batch and the next batch is coming down Friday.
