RCBS Bench Primer Die Mounting Adapter

I had an old Pacific die & some 3/16" steel plate sitting around so I decided to make an adapter for mounting my RCBS Bench Priming Tool. I had a friend weld the die to the center of the plate & I drilled & tapped 4 holes to attach the priming tool.

I have a recent thread posted where I converted my powder measure stand to L-N-L. I put an adapter on the adapter & it looks like this.

All mounting seem solid as a rock. I really like the L-N-L on the measure stand. I'll try this for a while & see how well it works out!

Great idea on the bench primer. I may have to steal that idea. I have mine mounted to the edge of my bench and I remove the handle after use so I don't run into it on the way out the door.

Mines still sitting in it's box. Use their Hand Priming tool instead. Made up a board to mount it on. Just never used it.
Maybe I will, someday.

Besides using a die one can acquire a 7/8” x14 TPI NF bolt, cut the head off and weld it to the base plate.

I cannot weld, but I might drill a hole in the plate and double nut the bolt to it.

A.) The "moment arm" of applied force through the Priming Tool handle might, in time, be sufficient to crack the weld in the event of a crimped or "difficult" primer hole. A lot of force is being resisted by the "small area" at the weldment.

B.) The Powder Measure (PM) Stand is cast metal, which won't take a whole lot of shear stress to break. The off-axis tool handle is multiplying force on the stand that is screwed to the table. There is concern that the "weakest link" is through the metal where the die screws into the PM. In a destructive test, not that you will, it would probably break there.

With careful use, YMMV in A.) and B.) above...

Though I have built stuff around 7/8” - 14 TPI (NF) nuts and bolts for some of my DYI projects, most of my DYI is more centered around the likes of the above.

A couple of C-clamps and a bit of open bench space and you have an instant work station ....

I have mine mounted to an In-Line quick change plate, remove my vice and install the bench primer. When done back to the wall dock it goes. Frees up the 4 inch quick mount stand for other items. Very convienent.

Yup!! There's a rack of C-clamps above my welding table; about 10' from the workbench where I do my brass prep.

my wood mounted one is often C clamped to tailgate of my truck. I like to work outside under the car port.

I added a ball to end of handle--original one wasn't comfortable after prolonged usage

Put t-track in my bench then mounted my miscellanous tools, bench primer, case trimmer, powder measure stand, etc. to pieces of MDO and simply clamp to the bench when needed. Works well.

I dunno why everyone mentions clamps with this tool, it doesn’t need them at all with a slab of wood that extends under the handle. Maybe I’m missing some virtues of stability but mine seems fully functional with no clamps ever.

Granted, I did use Purple Heart ;)
