I have been shooting from the back porch since this cold snap has set in. I put a cardboard box in front of a dead plum tree out by the garden. When I was out checking a target I noticed a boolit sticking out of the tree trunk. I also found the remains of a second boolit smashed to smithereens beside the trunk. I was happy to see that both gaschecks stayed on through all the punishment it took. Also a chance to try my new camera out. I am amazed at the detail of pics. The lead wash on G.C. in the groove made by the rifling is kinda wierd.
Shot from a Polytech M1A 33gr 4895 160 gr Lee 40 something yards.
Thanks to Bruce B for the nudge to shoot cast in this. What a blast!!

Does that load of 4895 function the action well? I have been kicking around the idea of cast out of my Springfield M1A, just curious as to how this load works for you as it may give me a place to start.

Best wishes from the Boer Ranch,

Joe

It functions very well. I am surprised by it. I could not get Garand to pick up a new cartridge but M1A works just dandy. After studying this a bit I realised this is not the Lee boolit but and LBT 150 WFN That started out looking like this.
