A buddy of mine is a handy-man, he was cleaning out a barn and found a box of old reloading stuff and odd lot shot-shells. With much appreciation, that box found its way to my shop. I've not seen these before. One is entirely made of see through plastic, headstamped "Wanda"- these were made from 1967 to about 1971 when they went out of business, shotshells with a rainbow of colors- ah, those crazy '60's..... The other it a Remington that looks like a factory load of plastic BB's.

I am not sure, but the red one looks like a dummy training round. Does it have a live primer?

The Wanda is a live round. They do look a little strange. IIRC I have a box of them somewhere in my stuff.

The "Wanda" was an interesting shotgun shell made out of plastic, which was was something new back then. The loaded box of shells was more expensive than the run-of-the-mill paper shells.
When fired the shell was no longer transparent due to the powder heat and friction. A roll crimp was needed for the OTS wad which was going the way of the Do-Do-bird.
It was interesting and now rare.

I have a Wanda 12 gauge shell somewhere around here.
The Activ plastic coated shotshells of the 1980s were way better.

I was an "Active" shotshell representative in the 80's and fired thousands of them in competition. I still have and shoot several hundred of the shells to this day.

Activs are great! Obviously it has been a while, but remember my father coming home with the cab of his truck packed full of them. K-Mart had them on close out. Until I posted this, I'd forgotten that they came in a box of 20- never popular with the trap crowd.

Now you got me stumped. I've never seen a 20 round box, must have been some sort of promotion for hunters?
All of my boxes are 25 rounds.

The 20 gauge shells also came in camo 20 round boxes if I remember right.
I had some 16 gauge Activs that were labeled "Red Hornets" also.
My brother had an Ithaca 37 12 gauge that had a tight magazine opening in the reciever. Our reloaded AA shells were sometimes a tight fit- but Activs slid right through.
I miss them.

Farmbif, do you remember the full page ad for the 1200 when they came out? Had one clamped in a bench vise muzzle angled up. The ad read: “Machined Gun”.
Mine set me back $69.00 at Sears.

I have a bunch of Plastic Airsoft BB's left over from powder coating. I now see a viable use for them. I have to load some up with very reduced powder charges and see how they work?

I'm thinking 3-500 fps? I wonder how fast they can run before they go willy nilly. All suggestions welcome!.

The plastic "BB" round was called a MODI-PAK. My spelling may be off - it's been awhile. They were crowd control rounds designed to be fired at the feet of rioters. Primarily for use in prison riots.

The 20ga shells were green. My Dad had one from the only box He ever bought. The rims chipped feeding thru His Model 12 20ga on a Dove hunt.

I reloaded a bunch of the Activ 12 gauge hulls back in the 80's for the trap range. I really like them and preferred them over the Winchester hulls. They fed slick as a whistle thru my 870 pump. my experience anyway, james

Those Activ shells- We called them the "heat-seekers" and would bring down a pheasant from way out! Fond memories of those- thanks for sharing!

I load the air soft bbs in my standard 1 1/8 oz AA load. No recoil and not much speed. Not enough weight to build pressure. Fun, but not much range.

Still sitting on about 5-600 of the Activ 20 and 12's. Even have a bag of their red wads for heavy 12 gauge loads. They were popular for loading heavy duck and goose loads in the pre-non toxic days.

I managed to acquire some of the Ative 12ga. and I like them. Wish I had got a bunch of them when the were around. At the time I only used AA and RXP.

Wow... really blows dust off the brain cells.

I remember using and reloading ACTIV's. They ran well in everything we had, and I loaded a bunch on the old MEC 600 jr.

I also remember boxes of Remington 2 1/2" game loads in 410 priced at $1.97 a box at K-mart. We couldn't believe how cheap they were, so me and my buddy bought all they had in stock. We shot them all up in the family heirloom 410's.
