Hi All
This is my first post and I am after some advice. I have made a new bullet mould (steel) for a paper patch .43 black powder cartridge. Even after giving the mould time to heat up my cast heads have wrinkles and don't look good. I am using pure lead fluxed with bees wax, heated in a Lee bottom pour melter. Does my my mould need air vents? Any advice would be welcome.

Thats a lot of surface I would consider vent lines Maybe every 3/16" -1/4" . I have done them with a 4" fly cutter with a 60* threading tool in it. turn by hand step over and repeat. They only need to be .003-.005 deep.
I would also look at the cavity under magnification to make sure it isnt from the cutter.

You right needs some vent lines. For how it looks.

Vent lines might help, but wrinkles usually tell you that you need more heat. Pure lead needs to be run HOT, as in 800* +.

Try holding the mold firmly against the bottom pour spout. Nice job on the mold, not many have the moxy to do that.
