One lead bullet for 7.62x39/54 or30/06?

I was wondering if the is one lead bullet all three rifles? Im planning on getting a mold for this or will I need multiple molded? Since they are all .30 cal, only one sizer should be needed.

For the 7.62x54R I use a .314 cast boolit. For the 30-06 I use a .310 or .311 cast boolit. For the 7.62x39 I use a .312 cast boolit. You may be able to get by with one mould (.312) for the x39 and -06, but if you're shooting a Mosin-Nagant 54R you'll likely need more than one mold, and for sure you'll need more than just one sizer.

Similar situation here, only I was looking for one mold for the 7.62x54r, -06, and 30 Herrett. The 54r has a really larger diameter land groove and I don’t mind sizing down to the 30 calibers.

I ended up with a Lee 2-Cavity Bullet Mold CTL312-160-2R (312 Diameter) 160 Grain Tumble Lube 2 Ogive Radius Gas Check and it did work althoughi had to PC for extra diameter and even in the 30 Herrett without tumbling. But ended up with another mold for the 30 Herrett and 32-20, a Lee 2-Cavity Bullet Mold C309-113-F 30 Caliber (309 Diameter) 113 Grain Flat Nose Gas Check

On the mold and especially the one sizer, understand though that 7.62 measured by European countries is to the lands while US is to the grooves. Not the same really and the Mosin bore especially needs to be slugged to see what it actually is.

I have used both the Lyman 311289 and the 311299 for 308, 30-06, and 7.65x53. As cast & sized they work for the .308" bore, and as cast + powder coated they work in the .312" bore. But the OAL on the 7.62x39 would be too long with these boolits. For use in 7.62x39 thru 30-06 I use the RCBS 30-165-sil with the same powder coat trick.

I've used the Lee 312-155-2R in .30/06 with good results, as have others. It was designed for the 7.62x39. I've never tried it in 54R, but should work if it's diameter is big enough.

Commonly, the .30-06 is considered to be a .308" bore, the 7.62x39 and 7.62x54 are considered to be .311". That is if you went down to the LGS and purchased jacketed ammo. In actual practice none of them can be considered as advertised. Due to differences in individual rifles, wear, and manufacturer variations are very common. So, the only way to find out for sure is to slug your rifles' bores and then cast for .002" over the measurement. Example: A .310 cast bullet in a .308" bore would be a good place to start. If the 7.62x39mm and 7.62x54mm slug to .311", then .314" would be good. But there is such a variation in the bore sizes of rifles in these calibers I'd wager you'll end up with three different molds.

I use NOE clone of #314299 in .303, .7.62x54R and. 30-'06. Size as needed by caliber. Load 30 grains of RL15, Varget, 4895, 4064. No brainer.

It's going to be up to your particular guns but I highly doubt you're going to be happy with the results of using one sizing die. I do think you can use one boolit mold. Those are 30 caliber class guns but not necessarily same bore diameters. For 7.62x39 I'm using the Lee 160gr boolit sized to .311. I also use the NOE spire point at 155gr the same way. I use both in 300 BO sized to .309. You may have to adjust the cast diameter by manipulating the alloy.

If standardization is important to you, I recommend the Finnish Model 39 Moisin variation, which I found accurate with .30 bullets intended for the 30-06.

My 7.62x39 AR Pistol has a .308 barrel, but .310 throat.
You probably need to do chamber casts and slug barrels...

I had a #314299 mould hollow pointed by Erik Ohlen. The bullet weighs 200 grs. in ww alloy. This is an accurate bullet sized with a .311" die (they come out slightly under that) that has worked well in a Ruger bolt-action 7.62x39, a Ruger 77V .308, and a pre-'64 Model 70. I don't know anything about a 7.62x54, but perhaps it would also work in that cartridge. I load to a muzzle velocity of around 1,700 fps, about max for the 7.62x39 with such a heavy bullet.
