Recently purchased 500 from GT Bullets. They are .258” and are well made. They are intended for the 257 Jackrabbit wildcat.

I will be shooting them up in a recently acquired Savage 23b. It was d&t by a previous owner. I mounted a vintage Weaver K4 that I already had. My first effort today with 3.2 grains of Unique shot into 4-5” at 50 yards. By contrast the combo of 85 gr. RNFP/ 3.3 gr. TrailBoss shot a 1.5” group.

Has anyone else been down this road with this bullet or another light weight bullet? Get me started in the right direction. I have W231, 2400, TrailBoss, Titegroup, Power Pistol, 4227, 4198, and too many other powders to list here.

My lightest bullet to date is a Hornday 60 gr fp over 4198.

I've used 55 and 60gr out of my 3. Can't say that any shot the lighter weights particularly well.

Next time out, my plan is to try 2400. Perhaps starting a 5.0 grains, then 5.5 and 6.0.

my 23 would shoot 1.5 in at 100 yds with 60 gr hp and 9 gr 2400. (this was a hot load)

Very windy at the range, but 6.0 grains of 2400 showed improvement. 2” at 50 yards. 5.0 and 5.5 grains were 3” or so. Going to ladder up from 6.0.

Also, I loaded 5 rounds with 2.5 grains of Bullseye. 4 of the 5 went into 1 1/2”. Will try it again and ladder up to 3.0 grains.

Tejano, I may buy some of those to try in light, lower velocity loads for my old 250 Savage. Thx for posting, even tho for 25-20 it sparked my interest. Interesting g when I bought that 250 at the pawnshop way back when, they also had a Savage 23 in 25-20 I almost bought. The magazine was damaged or missing so I passed, not knowing how hard it would be to replace. This was preinternet days, somewhat harder to find such things.
